Biography
Tim Berresheim is a visual artist who started producing blackboards in 2002 using the computer. The pictures, which are realized as photographs, screen prints or computer prints, depict scenes that take place in three-dimensional, illusionistic space. In the course of his work with CGI and DGI - both for the figurative and the abstract works - plausible, ie, physical, pictorial worlds underlying physical laws emerge. Since the second half of the 2000s, moreover, the aspect of multidimensionality is relevant for Berresheim. By means of optical distortions within the complex representations - with regard to detail, spatial arrangement and illumination - the readability of the image undergoes permanent changes and thus the idea of a final central perspective view is put to the disposition. At the beginning of the 2010s he repeatedly addressed in his exhibitions the relationship between image production inside and outside the art world as well as the transition phase in which the design, presentation and reception of visual artifacts have since been located. Since the exhibition "Eye and World" 2014 at the Kunstverein Rheinlande and Westfalen Dusseldorf, he and his team at the Studios New Amerika have been designing exhibition presentations including wallpapers as well as editions and merchandise. Since his retrospective "2003-2015" 2015 he is in the Ludwig Forum Augmented reality apps, which are primarily used for mediation, an integral part of his exhibitions.
