Tom Costa
Biography
I am an artist living and working in Peekskill, NY. I studied in Baltimore at MICA and received an MFA in Painting from Cranbrook Academy of Art. Since then, I have been living and painting in various locations along the East Coast. Over the years I have cycled through several themes and subjects that are often intertwined with one another and revisited throughout different bodies of work. My work is informed both by a formal love of painting and a general existential inquiry. In my work, I am searching for visual allegory to explore questions of my relationship with reality, our relationship with the natural world, and our current position in time and history. As a very young painter, I had my first NYC solo show at Clementine Gallery in 2005. In 2009 I was curated into the show "Born in the Morning, Dead by Night" at Leo Koenig Gallery by artist Tony Matelli. Last year I had a solo show at Sardine in Brooklyn, and I recently started working with Beaudry Gallery in Dallas.
