Biography
Willem Hendrik Gispen started in 1916 the art forge W.H. Gispen & Co in Rotterdam. The first products to leave the workshop were mostly embellished unicum’s of wrought iron, copper or bronze. Soon the company expanded and changed his name into Gispen's Fabriek voor Metaalbewerking N.V. (Gispen’s Factory for Metallurgie). In 1926 Gispen started with the production of Giso-lamps and three years later, as the first factory in The Netherlands, he started with the manufacturing of steel tube furniture for home and office.
