Biography

I was born in Colorado Springs, Colorado (1981) and have worked in the trades most of my life. In my hometown, the images of cowboys and outdoorsy types dominate the cultural landscape. My first pair of shoes to walk in were a pair of cowboy boots (which I still have). Within these influences lies a simplicity and love of the readily available. Also seemingly as simple as the act of making something with one's hands, my life of working in the construction trades has helped me to appreciate a thing that is made with love and attention. I received my BFA in painting from the University of Colorado Denver in 2013 and my MFA from the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts in 2015. I have shown work in Denver, Philadelphia, Detroit, New York, Rhode Island, and Virginia. My work is in the collection of American Campus Communities in Philadelphia. I was a member of the Big Picture Artist Discussion Group in Colorado Springs, CO, founder of Art Imitates Life discussion group at the now closed Buexijo Gallery in Denver, CO, and co-founder of Automat Gallery in Philadelphia, PA. I currently live and work in Oklahoma City.
